Karen Goodman, LMSW, MHP
Karen Goodman has served in various capacities over the years. Currently she works with the West Michigan Community Mental health. Prior to her current role, Ms. Goodman served as Director of a Psychiatric Inpatient Unit Team Leader for Case Management and ACT Services for Adults with Mental Illness and as Outpatient Services Team Leader. In private practice, she serves as therapist, community based residential services director, director of day activity services for the Area Aging Agency. Systems where she oversees the day to day functions of Children and Family case managers. Her team includes the Home Based Team and Infant Mental Health Services and Individual and Family Therapy Services. Currently she is the Team Leader for the Children and Family Services and the Health Services Team. In that role she is responsible for supervising psychiatric, nursing and medication services.
Over the years she has come to be known for her expertise as a Substance Abuse Prevention Worker, Case Manger for Adults with a Mental Illness, Day Program Supervisor for Adults with Mental Illness and Adults with a Developmental Disability as well as Adolescent Residential Substance Use Prevention Worker and Therapist.
She has extensive training as a Certified in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Recovery and Empowerment Model (TREM) and Addressing Stress and Trauma in Recovery-oriented Systems and Communities.
