Such teams would include counselors, community services providers, courts and probation staff, social workers and clinical teams. The program fleshes out the evidence-based "common elements" they must possess as practitioners to help their clients address challenges impeding their success - vs punishing, warning or "rehabilitating". Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) – DBT strategies arose from a recognition that typical skills-focused programs concentrate on change to the exclusion of validation or acceptance, with the result that clients experience invalidation around their suffering as well as the difficulty or lack of readiness to make changes.  The particular value of DBT stems from it combining acceptance and change strategies together.
