Program Details

The program examines the way in which case-management has been a natural part of probation, parole and other services supervising clients at various stages of transitioning back into community.

It takes a look at the way in which offender clients requirements, community corrections, and jail diversion programs have created the need to increase the focus on case-management to the level of formal practice within probation and parole.

Program Goals and Learning Outcomes:

In this webinar, the use of various evidence-based practices and strength–centered approaches as applied in case management supports and services to improve outcomes in probation and parole will be discussed.

Practices reviewed have been proven to lower obsconder rates, improve commitment levels to programs and reduce reoffending rates. In addition it has reduced employee stress and fatigue associated with caseloads and results below expectations.  Participants will learn evidence-based and strength-centered approaches that yield results far and above the norm.

Who should attend:

Personnel and staffs at agencies engaged various aspects of community corrections, probation and parole officers, community supervisors among others.

Management overseeing these functions are especially encouraged to participate.

Mark M. Lowis, LMSW, MINT

Mark Lowis has extensive experience in the public and private sector for mental health and substance abuse services.  He offers assistance to agencies and facilities in the design, development, and management of the following areas:

Mark has provided leadership and consultation in Utilization Management (UM) and Quality Management (QM) to various agencies and at the state level over the years.  He has helped agencies reduce their dollar amount of loss for non-certs and denials by helping to improve Utilization Review (UR) processes and staff trainings.  Mark is a member of the Motivational Interviewing Network of Trainers (MINT) and provides training and clinical supervision in this evidenced based practice.  Additionally, Mark provides team building activities and training that help to increase the partnerships between functional departments, management, and contractors in the field of mental health and substance abuse.  Mark has a great deal of experience designing and developing performance measurement systems for maintaining the standards of accrediting bodies, as well as systems for continuous quality improvement, contracting, and services analysis.
