The traditional approach, undertaken by law enforcement, justice, corrections, and mental and behavioral health professionals, for managing the challenging populations under their care, has been one of “control and containment.” The best efforts by executives to help their organizations adopt more effective, evidence- and values-based practices have been met with significant resistance. As a result, these professional arenas have remained largely untouched by new, enlightened approaches being developed and introduced into organizations worldwide, as part of a globalizing “Corporate Social Responsibility” (CSR) movement.

CSR is a values-based methodological orientation, which expands the goals and vision of an organization from a merely utilitarian and profit-seeking model that serves the interests of “shareholders” alone, toward a model of “care” that serves the broader community of “stakeholders” affected by the organization's decisions, i.e. clients, leaders, employees, surrounding communities and the environment.

What We Will Cover:

In this executive briefing, Dr. Wendy Hamblet, Associate Professor at North Carolina A & T University and specialist in Organizational Ethics, will provide introductory training on a Values Based approach to Staff Development and Organizational Integrity, grounded in the the concept of "Corporate Social Responsibility" (CSR).
